In 2021, global mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity surged to historic highs, reaching $3.6 trillion in deal value by mid-August—already surpassing the total for all of 2020. This boom was fueled by low interest rates, high stock prices, and a strong appetite for growth, with the U.S. leading the charge at $2.14 trillion. Technology deals topped the sector list, accounting for $799 billion.
Jonathan Wilson, CEO of Dubb Value Creation, emphasized that this record-breaking activity underscores the importance of value creation in scaling businesses. He noted that as companies pursue aggressive growth through M&A, they must stay focused on long-term vision, intentional execution, and building inclusive cultures to ensure sustainable success in a rapidly evolving market.
